I wonder if the Hill family knows about the Mpls Forum?
They might think twice about this act of benevolence if they knew how much Minneapolis residents hate them.
Vanessa Freeman:
You know, I wouldn't care if the money came from the moon! If it is not putting people at risk, or ethically and morally wrong, then this Northside resident welcomes the possibilities and help that one family as offered to many other families, not only to North Minneapolis, but to other communities as well. The fact that it was ended up in North Minneapolis, shows that people are listening to the frustrations on the Northside.
I just hope that the money is not squandered away into useless programming, nor moved into other areas of the city, especially when it is ear-marked for the Northside neighborhoods. I would also hope that the overseer give the community accounts of what is happening either by holding public meetings or via newsletters. If neighborhood associations are to have anything to do with any of this, then they will also have to show what they are doing with the funding and/or services and be held accountable if the money was mis-managed.
Lastly, as with any participation within communities, it is with the greatest hope that community residents are included in any decision making processes that will have an impact in North Minneapolis. As they do live there and who knows better than the community, in terms of what is working and what is not working.
