Please post: I'd like to thank David Piehl for alerting me to a misunderstanding that I may have caused in terms of bike access to Lake Street when Lake is reconstructed. David indicated I may have said that once Lake Street is reconstructed, bikes would be prohibited. This will not be the case. Because of the limited room along Lake Street, and a desire to avoid building removal, reconstructed Lake (outside the segment in the vicinity of the I-35W access project) will not have more through lanes than the four it has now, nor will it have bike lanes (it doesn't now). We recognize the importance of biking as a means of transportation, and as a result, we intend to develop links between the Greenway to the north and parallel city streets to the south so bicyclists can reach Lake Street destinations via those routes and links. If bicyclists do wish to use Lake Street, they will be allowed to so (in the same manner they do today). I hope this clears up any misunderstanding that may have occurred. Jim Grube
