Minnesota Remembers the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, 1963
Reading and Celebration Thursday, March 13 7:00 p.m. University of Minnesota Weisman Art Museum 333 East River Road, Minneapolis
On the early hours of Wednesday, August 28th, 1963, fifty Minnesotans boarded a plane bound for Washington, D.C. By evening, they were part of the greatest gathering of the 20th century: the March on Washinton for Jobs and Freedom.
On March 13th, the Minnesota marchers will gather for a discussion and celebration of the fortieth anniversary of the March on Washington. Featured speaker will be author and journalist, Patrik Henry Bass. Bass integrates the remembrances of everyday and extraordinary Americans who attended the March in his new book, Like A Mighty Stream: The March on Washinton, August 28, 1963 (Running Press, 2002).
