Annie Young writes: "Homeless, closed park buildings, no downtown library, can't find a job... these tell the other side of the story in our beautiful city. And why - no more taxes! Right!?!"
Vicky here: Right. Maybe the Park Board should get the $3.5 million back from Moore Business Forms - they took our money and went to Chicago. Have we forgotten that just a few months ago the Park Board paid more than $1 million OVER the market value for its new headquarters building. I wonder how much has been spent so far for office remodeling. Another question: How many parks can Minneapolis afford to maintain for $75 million per year in a 58.9 square mile City? (Reminder, St. Paul spends $27 million, probably less now.) I personally think that we should sell some park property and put it BACK ON THE TAX ROLLS. We need more people paying and fewer people spending. Vicky Heller Cedar-Riverside and North Oaks TEMPORARY REMINDER: 1. Send all posts in plain-text format. 2.
