IMHO, the response to this recent snow emergency is most likely due to the crappy service during the last one. I live on Garfield. Last snow emergency, cars were ticketed but not towed, and the street was not plowed at all. Three days after that storm, Garfield was a lovely ice rink. Starting my braking to a stop for the stop sign at 26th St. at least three car lengths before the intersection, I slid (read TOTAL ICE SLICK) over one full lane into 26th, with several cars heading straight at me down the one way. When solicited to respond to the city's "how'd we do?" website, I gave them my humble opinion.

So yes, this snow will melt. But the city may just be trying to save face for the very poor job done last time.
