Lost in all the crappy news of the past few days and weeks is one bright
shining light for the Minneapolis community.

The Lady Polars of North Community High School did their city proud with a
57-32 victory last night over Duluth East to win the Class 3A Girls' state
high school basketball tournament.

This was the Lady Polars' third state high school championship and sixth
state championship game since 1997. Mia Johnson, Faith Buchanan, Laraea
Starr and Kandis Williams were named to the all-tournament team.
