Now THIS is a Minneapolis issue!
My stepdaughter tells me she and many other students walked out in
protest at South High today and joined demonstrations against the war.
I'm very proud of her for doing so... but not very happy that school
officials are apparently going to consider these to be unexcused absences.
We need to defend students' free speech rights. Let's try to get the
Minneapolis School Board to uphold these rights. I know that there are
many city officials who read this list; are there are school board members?

While delivering mail today, I came upon a demonstration organized by the
students at Field elementary school. About 100 -200 kids lined 46th Street
between 4th and 5th Avenues holding signs and cheering every time a car
honked in support (so there was a continuous din for about 3 hours).
Has anyone heard of other schools walking out in protest?
