I recall a few threads last year about how neighborhoods got named and, in particular, a debate about whether it is the "Kingfield" or "King Field" neighborhood and what "King" the field was named after. On Saturday evening, I was browsing at a used-book shop in Stillwater, and came across an 1874 map of Minneapolis and the surrounding area. An area consisting of several adjacent tracts east of Lake Calhoun, which was then well outside the city limits, was labeled "Col. W.S. King Farm."
