Interesting to see Bruce Gaarder, "Mr Highland Park", trying to refute the arguments about Cub at 46th by saying that more is better, only to forget that his signature quip is "LRTs are not just potato chips, you can eat just one". Well, some of us feel the same about big box foodstores. There is a limit, Bruce, on just how many of these things are necessary. Question, if you like them so much, talk to Cub and raze some houses in Highland Park to build one. As I recall, Highland Park is VERY sensitive about how things are built. Partly because of the pre-existing parking problems. Well, since you understand THAT, you have a headstart on why Longfellow is just as sensitive, thinking "Gee with a Rainbow and a Cub already, maybe we don't NEED the extra problems of a SECOND Cub."

And I'm interested in how Mr. Atherton SPRINGS to the defense of Mr. Lindner. I wonder if his reflexes are so highly toned for ALL controversial speakers. Say someone who things vouchers are a scam. Personally, I don't think Mr. Lindner ought to lose any of his civil rights over his appaling statements. But I do think his PRIVILEGES should be very much under review. Just what kind of a guy he is, his track record, could stand a real public unveiling. And I do hope he'll get it. I'm sort of interested and puzzled that he has hired a lawyer for this process. What kind of trouble does he think he is in? Or is he hoping to use the lawyer as an attack dog to preserve the privileges he thinks he owns (as opposed to being given them on condition of good behavior).
