I've noticed that the city has painted a bunch of big white 4's in the intersection of several streets in Minneapolis, or at least in south Minneapolis. My wife said she heard that it is to help helicopter navigation -- the top of the fours always point North. If that's the case, then hopefully no helicopters will fly over 50th and Xerxes, because that 4 points East. All the rest I've seen do point North.
I don't know what the city might be up to at 50th and Xerxes, but just south and east of there, they will be digging lots of holes in the streets to allow a contractor to reline the water mains -- a continuation of a project worked on last summer.
As for helicopter navigation, that sounds bogus. I'm a helicopter pilot, and if I don't know which way north is without looking for arrows on the ground, I'm in big trouble.
