And this is the problem. The Minneapolis Inspections Department basically tags and bugs the folks that they know are the most apt to make the corrections. If they would just enforce the outstanding tags that are on many properties that would keep they busy full-time as inspectors. For all this talk of reform by the current administration I can cite several examples of outstanding citations by recurrent offenders for really serious stuff that the Inspections Department refuses to enforce.
Even as a Council Member I couldn't get some of these problem offenders taken care of.

Now that I'm a civilian and working on a project in my front yard they are bugging the living daylights out of me. I recently removed two very ornate railings from my top steps that are original to my house (1925) and took them to Master Sandblasting to be repaired, blasted and painted. The guys at the sandblasters said they were some of the nicest and most unusual ironwork they had seen and would easily be $1000 to recreated. Guess what, the inspectors will not let me put them back because they are higher that 30 inches. Forget the fact they are historic and fit the house. So now as a citizen I have to do all kinds of legwork to see if I can get this overturned so I can re-install them. So much for reform at City Hall.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.... send those bored inspectors to Jordan.  Some of my
neighbors would think 8" high grass is recently mowed.  Old mufflers are
lawn ornaments. Not to mention the cars and RV's parked on the grass from
season to season, year to year.  How about no grass at all,  semi trucks
regularly parked on residential streets(oops, cop problem, sorry). Well I
could go on and on.  Not just my neighborhood either.  My mom lives over on
31st and Central NE and there is more graffiti in their alleys them I've
seen over here in ages.  Anne the trash....ish.

Maybe the city needs to look at how inspectors are assigned.  Maybe the
areas where these minor infractions occur should be inspected on complaint
only.  That would free up alot of the inspectors to patrol the more
neglected areas.
