Regarding City Hall's partnership with Target: Folks, I WAS WRONG when I said the new guard at City Hall is no better than the old guard.
THE NEW GUARD IS EVEN WORSE!!! If Mayor Rybak and the City Council feel the need to run a camera on our streets why choose downtown when many residents from our most crime-infested neighborhoods are fighting a never-ending battle with gangs and drug peddling ? Quite an ironic turn of events when you consider that two years ago SSB, Jackie Cherryhomes and Joan Campbell were criticized by their opponents for pandering to the needs of the downtown business community at the expense of our neighborhoods. And given that this is a DFL town, we can't blame the Republicans for this. DFLers like Phyllis Khan who blame the Green Party for their party's demise need to realize that their own actions are alienating much of their traditional base. The Greens (who have lots of problems of their own) are the least of their problems. And please realize, on many issues I'm on the same page with the DFL, but the party is obviously suffering from a brain drain and their actions are becoming increasingly desperate. Thanks to our city council, Mayor Rybak and Target (which includes the Dayton family, I suppose) for bringing us a lot closer to a Brave New World. -----------------------------Peter Schmitz, CARAG TEMPORARY REMINDER: 1.
