I just have to chime in and say we've been happy with our bin. The contents are finally starting to take on a pleasant odor (proper compost doesn't stink) and consistency. I would also have to think the bin subsidy yields dividends out at the landfill, where a lack of balanced materials, muck-mixing and air prevents the same thing from happening there. If you think you generate the right stuff for a compost bin, and have the space to hide a big black barrel in your back yard, I'd encourage you to give it a second look.
