Does the Minneapolis Public Works Dept. keep a list of the most dangerous
intersections? I swear the intersection of
E.37th Street and 5th Ave S. has to be on top of their list. If it is
not, then I would like to add my nomination for the following reasons:

There is no stop sign between E36th and E38th Streets if you are going
North or South on 5th Ave. S.. Now that the weather is nice, it is being
used as a time trials strip for future NASCAR drivers on a daily basis.

To add to the danger, the 37th St. East-West crossing is blind to the
North-South drag racing because of cars parked to close to the stop sign,
and the street is narrow. One has to literally nose the car out almost
half way into the intersection to see if traffic is coming. And believe me,
I have had to hit the brakes many times to avoid a collision. A speeding
North bound motorcyclist died in that intersection last summer after he and
the East West traffic didn't see each other coming. Very very dangerous!!

No fear, however, I will not just complain, but take some form of action
and copy my comments to the Minneapolis Public Works Department and we'll
see what they have to say. Maybe there are others on the list who would
like to add their nominations, but I doubt any of them can top mine.
