We do have cameras along West Broadway; the outcome has not been very rewarding. One big reason: lack of voluntary monitors. Those same citizens who listen to their police scanners, and many others, could, would, and should be watching their "neighborhood-cam" on the internet. At home, or at their neighborhood business, they would be drawn to there computer screens for entertainment, and education. They would "learn" what the hell is going on down on the corner, or right outside. They can quickly phone in concerns to 911, or other neighbors. These voluntary neighborhood eyes on the street will be more effective, and safer, then neighborhood vigilantes. And less mysterious then Big Brother. And Big Brother is Broke anyway.
