The north side of Franklin Avenue between South 5th and Chicago Avenue is septic. I'm tired of seeing drug dealers, prostitutes and loiterers congregate and walk up and down this section. With the new construction at Franklin and Portland, and the empty real estate and the north side waiting for a good use to be realized, I've got a suggestion to clean up the mess.
The city and the MCTC could remove the bus stops from South 5th to Columbus on the north side. This would remove the excuse for anyone waiting for just the right bus to never show up. If it's out of the question to remove the bus stops, keep the Transit PD patrol right there at Franklin and Chicago. Depending on MPD and Police Union policies, station one or two footmen on each block from South 5th to Columbus. Police presence and the regular exercise of the common law right of inquiry works wonders. Fence any unused property. Replace and add streetlights in strategic areas. Close the magnetic called Peace House if it's possible. When the subjects of the dispersal migrate, the cops in the next sector can follow up, and express their concern for the well-being of those dispersed. If the subjects aren't too lacking, they'll get the picture. No Police Condition. N.I. Krasnov Loring Park TEMPORARY REMINDER: 1. Don't feed the troll! Ignore obvious flame-bait. 2. If you don't like what's being discussed here, don't complain - change the subject (Mpls-specific, of course.) ________________________________ Minneapolis Issues Forum - A City-focused Civic Discussion - Mn E-Democracy Post messages to: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Subscribe, Unsubscribe, Digest, and more: http://e-democracy.org/mpls
