The way social worker Richard Spratt sees it, the corporate commitment of General Mills Inc. has been the key factor in lowering crime and returning optimism to Hawthorne, a once-declining neighborhood in north Minneapolis. "This would not have happened without them," said Spratt, a Hennepin County employee who works with the neighborhood's children and families.
