My kids are all out of school now so I'm not qualified to pass
enlightened judgment on this SLC business but good grief what harm can there be in a
kid using a path of personal interest to gain focus on his/her education? Of
course their minds will change! That's good. Then they can refocus since
they've got good training in focusing now.
My oldest son has a degree in philosophy and so of course is a deep
thinking bicycle mechanic. My daughter pursued her deep interests in language and
travel, looking for maybe a diplomatic career. She's now stealing a fortune
decorating peoples spaces on T.V. If need be though, she can be fluently goofy
in Spanish also. My youngest boy has a little hip-hop band going right now so I
assume he'll wind up being an attorney,
All three by the way are products of the Minneapolis Public Schools,
Barton and South Open in their cases.
Focusing is not channeling.
