My concern about the promotion of graffiti vandalism was in the last Skyway News one of the publications in the SW Journal empire. An exerpt from the article for more context:

Street Smart Art: Shep Fairey

Artist/designer Shepard Fairey's "Prints and the Revolution" is appropriately plastered both inside and outside the newborn Ox-Op gallery, 1111 Washington Ave. S.

Duck into Ox-Op to get familiar with the artist's work, then see how many Fairey-works you can spy Downtown - stickered anywhere from the wall of Shinders, 733 Hennepin Ave. S., to random stoplights, affixed by the artist's anonymous kindred. Many are visible from a distance, especially his iconic sketch of Andre the Giant accompanied by the phrase, "Obey Giant," that spawned a line of "Obey" imagery...



In "Prints and the Revolution," Fairey parodies propaganda and consumer culture, openly challenging viewers to question the status quo, but not without a sense of humor. His work exemplifies Ox-Op's niche: illustration-style Low Brow art, epitomized by bright colors and comic-book wit.
