Either way -- using yuppie perjoratively would seem to indicate a jealousy of, or a prejudice against anyone who was young, anyone who was professional and/or anyone who was upwardly mobile. That says a few things to me about the person who uses the word that way.
Minneapolis is full of yuppies, using either definition, and what's wrong with that? Without them, it wouldn't be much of a town.
