I lived in India for a short time in the late 70's. There cars shared the same roadway (which was not as wide as the current Lake Street) with buses, taxis, bikes, scooters, mopeds, donkey carts, pedestrians, elephants, cows, goats and other animals depending on the day. Everyone seemed to get around there just fine and there were 18,000,000 people in the city at that time. There was just a lot more horn honking. Seems to me Minneapolis can figure out a way for cars, buses and bikes to share the road.
