Today I was at the Community Advisory Board on Homelessness.
One, among many, troubling pieces of information mentioned at that meeting is that there is a possibility that Minneapolis may follow St. Paul's (relatively new) initiative of placing rods under bridges that prevent a human being from being able to rest or sleep there.
From what I was told at the meeting, the State has provided about $10,000 so far to pay for these rods.
It was pointed out that the 519 shelter could be funded to stay open for several months with $10,000.
I am being proactive in raising this issue as I want us to be aware so that we can fight this if Minneapolis should try to do this.
