Appointments to CPED are made by Ex. Director Lee Sheehy, not the Mayor. However, in
spite of criticism posted here by Antonio Rosell, I am extremely pleased by Sheehy's
choice of Mike Christianson. If you want some evidence of that, take a walk around
Phillips:

Go to the Health Careers Institute, which partners with MCTC to train people from
the neighborhood for jobs at Abbott Northwestern....It's one reason why so many more
people from the neighborhood now work at Abbott than they did a decade ago. And
learn about the Banking Careers Institute, which uses the same model to create jobs
for neighborhood residents in banking.

See the Selvaggio housing work that has transformed a section of Portland Avenue
from crime ridden properties to a model block in the heart of the city. And learn
about plans for a second phase of Selvaggio.

Find out about the great work done for this summer to partner police, probation
officers, businesses and the community to create street-level safety on Lake St.

These are only a few of the initiatives in Philips where Mike has been a key
player. Minneapolis is much better today because of Mike Chrisitanson's work, and we
are going to be far better able to realize our visions because he has come to work for
the city.

Here's a guy with deep experience in forming the critical partnerships we need to
make things happen at a time when our resources are scarce, who has led the MTC at a
time when we need to fuse development and transportation.....

You bet I'm doing triple back flips over this hire.

TEMPORARY REMINDER:
1. Don't feed the troll! Ignore obvious flame-bait.
2. If you don't like what's being discussed here, don't complain - change the subject
(Mpls-specific, of course.)
