Great commentary today by Margaret Hastings, Jim Mork and David Shove!!!!
Regarding Steve Brandt's article in the Star Tribune, I appreciated the last paragraph where Barb Allivato, union president for development employees, questions the dubious merit of the two appointments "when their workforce has been cut almost in half and the agency earlier laid off three top officials to save money." It all goes to show that tennis ought to be part of every child's curriculum, at least if they wish to get a head in Minneapolis. I remember an editorial from the Star Tribune that appeared soon after our last citywide election. It sternly warned the mayor-elect to distance himself from the "granola faction" (their expression not mine) that helped him get elected. So as long as R.T. Ryback has kissed and made up with the STRIB and is taking orders from them once again, I wish he would at least heed the rare compassion that the paper displayed in one of its editorials last February, which addressed atrocities against the homeless citizens of Minneapolis by some of our police. But I guess the prodigal servant needs to show his corporate masters that he has a little bit of independence now and then.------Peter Schmitz CARAG TEMPORARY REMINDER: 1. Don't feed the troll! Ignore obvious flame-bait. 2. If you don't like what's being discussed here, don't complain - change the subject (Mpls-specific, of course.) ________________________________ Minneapolis Issues Forum - A City-focused Civic Discussion - Mn E-Democracy Post messages to: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Subscribe, Unsubscribe, Digest, and more: http://e-democracy.org/mpls
