Has anyone else been following the governance re-examination initiated by the county board regarding Hennepin County Medical Center?
I went to the public forum facilitated by HCMC Governance Task Force chair Irv Weiser and only four folks spoke. Two of which, although heartfelt, were significantly off topic IMHO, talking about HCMC internal operation issues. Two hours were reserved for the meeting but only about a half hour was spent. I can't help but think that the citizens of Hennepin County (including all Minneapolis residents, of course) have missed their opportunity to exert citizen oversight upon a process that is likely to convert a public resource, managed by elected officials, to a radically different model. Folks in Mpls might be discovering that this fait accompli very directly, or at least indirectly, affects their lives. I could go on with much more detail, but at this point I guess my question is: "Does anybody care out there?" If you don't like what's being discussed here, don't complain - change the subject (Mpls-specific, of course.) ________________________________ Minneapolis Issues Forum - A City-focused Civic Discussion - Mn E-Democracy Post messages to: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Subscribe, Un-subscribe, etc. at: http://e-democracy.org/mpls
