Eric Stonechild, outreach worker with American Indian Housing Inc. died last week.
Eric testified at the Public Safety Committee of the Mpls City Council advocating for the people he served with such compassion-- Native people who are homeless.
I did not know Eric very long. Was fortunate enough to see his testimony and speak with him on the phone a few times.
He was with the KOLA street outreach project.
He was not rich, at least not materially. But I was struck by his dignity and humilty.
We need more Eric's in this world.
