WM: This is mouse ca-ca. Berglin is not a new democrat. She does not and has never pandered to anyone among her constituency. She lived at 22nd and Third for years, so she is not ignorant about crime--her block was right in the middle of something awful for some of those years while Maria, her daughter, was quite small..... [Linda Berglin] is either terribly uninformed about crime (refer to Russell Racczkiwski post this evening) or making another desperate attempt to broaden her base of support by pandering to law and order fanatics (like so many other pathetic "new democrats").
WM: Show me one time in the recorded history of homosapien sapien when we have addressed the root causes of crime on any level.But it's not going to get better for them, or anyone else for that matter (except those getting rich off the prison industry), until we address the root causes of crime, both locally, statewide and nationally.
.... a misguided and corrupt economic system (i.e., consumer capitalism) thatWM: Despite the considerable and repetitive Christian hoo-hah which seems to be the announced bedrock belief of the majority of this nation, the antithesis, capitalism, operates continuously and chugs along merrily. It appears to be the bedrock secular belief of the majority. That the thesis and its antithesis can, together, create and maintain this empire may be one of the great mysteries.
results in the exploitation of human beings, environmental degradation;
and the necessity for attacking other countries that pose no threat to
our nation's security.
WM: Senator Berglin never bellows. One of the things Berglin is is practical. We can all build castles in the air about addressing the root causes of violence, but talk is cheap. The legislature's job is to make some practical commitment to alleviating the pressure. One cannot overthrow the government nor the economic system through moral suasion. She's not "posturing" as a liberal either.Senator Berglin can bellow all she wants about law and order while posturing as a liberal (the way Bill Clinton and George W. Bush pretend to be Christians), but her silence regarding root causes of violence against poor people is a rather criminal, to say the least.
Being both a liberal and practical, she, too, will opt for using the system now in place. She did not run as a revolutionary willing to push the boulder of society, custom, government, et.al. up a hill with her nose. She signed up to do what I personally consider an odious job, she's done well at it over the
years; it is she who brought MN Care into being, the cost saving is huge. She has never pretended to know everything, but she has always been willing to learn. So far, she's been head and shoulders above any of her challengers, so far as her district is concerned--we keep returning her to office.
