Homeless
I am not going to have offlist discussions on the homeless. This is a Minneapolis issue and should be held online or not at all. As for me, I'm done with it.

Airport
To me, the airport is not a specifically Minneapolis-bound issue. We don't own the airport. It's noise affects about four or five different municipalities. If it is inadequate in the future, the entire metro will suffer. So, it might be a good place for the city governments of all the surrounding cities get together and form a coalition to insure their cities are well-served by this public facility. The mayor isn't wrong in looking after Minneapolis' interest in the airport. But if he doesn't pursue the issue at the right level, then it looks like political grandstanding.

WIFI
I understand the reason why people with WIFI ready computers want this. What I don't understand is why we should spend money, of which we have so little at present, on this before we handle the basics of park maintenance. Is there some non-park issue this will actually help?

Schools
Again, I'm having a lot more trouble understanding the claim that MPS made the situation WORSE. With school choice, why AREN'T the poorer people in the better schools? Do they screen for ability like private colleges? If so, why? Is it perhaps simply a matter of the poorer parents not KNOWING which are the "better schools"? I mean, why would any parent knowingly send their kids to a school that is "worse"? Do rich parents pull strings? Of course, one problem might be that if a kid from a welloff family doesn't get a "better school", they may simply bail out of the system. But then, aren't we really looking for ways to eliminate the "better school/worse school" distinction? Why should any school be worse than any other? Is it poor administration? I mean, with school choice, it shouldn't be the school's location. If it is, why is it?

(Mpls-specific, of course.)
