The Park Board has been bugging people for a couple of months now to
water trees. I've watered mine, and reminded neighbors. I'ver also
turned on hoses to water trees at the homes of people who are into
neglect of newly planted trees. I usually knock first, but if no one is
home, I just string the hose and let it run slowly for a couple of
hours. So it was a big disappointment to me to go to the Minnesota
Orchestra concert Sunday at the Lake Harriet bandshell, and see so many
young trees there that were dead or dying. Seems like the Park Board
should practice what it preaches, especially at landmark regional park
spots around the Grand Round, like the bandshell, Minnehaha Falls, and
the Victory flagpole.
On another note, if it were not a violation of
list rules, I would applaud the list manager's efforts to keep the list
tightly focused on Minneapolis. Steve
