Shocking indeed. Makes me wonder: Do they ever DRIVE around the ward? Or are they totally dependent upon constituents to let them know what is going on. I thought the Public Works Dept reported to the City Council. You know, this reminds me of something I told Kathy Thurber when she was in there for Cooper. DON'T take on faith what department heads tell you is going on. Get out there and SEE what is going on. She said "We think that would be micromanagement". Translation: I don't want to commit to that much work. That was when I was ready to see her go and a replacement come. She liked show projects like the YWCA. Legwork wasn't her style. Well, I digress. I guess people in that part of town will have to start calling in so CM Lane know 'sup.
School Board
http://www.startribune.com/stories/1592/4146458.html
I find it VERY interesting that the school board members think public education is under attack, and the way they want to DEFEND it is get a politician, NOT try to prove the attack is wrong by providing excellent education. What does that SAY about those school board members. I hope someone who runs against them will remember this episode and ask them to explain. Of course, they could explain NOW, but that would be so atypical. Also, I find it logical that in their PR piece, they admit we were in a panic due to the lack of a succession plan if Carol Johnson left. Does this mean they fell asleep on the JOB? Doug, Mike, feel FREE to chime in here anywhere.
