Dont know whom we is but you can concede whatever you like. It wont make it truth. Id love to see a QUALIFIED white apply just to prove Atherton wrong. And if the candidate gets to speak to the community and THEY approve his or her qualifications, all the better. But the notion that it is somehow WRONG for the candidate to be something other than white is nonsense. Only a racist would proceed from such an assumption. And to repeat what I said earlier, I hope they look for a successful ASIAN. The Asians are the one group that seems more capable of academic success than the Caucasian community. They OBVIOUSLY have some cultural wisdom we could profit from sharing.

If the Strib is right about Jennings, the Chamber of Commerce must REALLY be kicking themselves for letting Jennings get away. The other wonderment to me is: If the Board was willing to select Jennings on such flimsy evidence, were they then planning to defer to Jennings on every difficult decision? That would be MY guess. Perhaps they could then make him the shield they could hide behind.

Property Rights
Considering what some of our suburban correspondents have been alleging, I started to wonder just how much freedom they GET in use of their real estate? Are there no zoning codes out there? Can I buy any peace of land anywhere and put up ANY legal business? Can I put up a bar in a residential neighborhood? Or a McDonalds? Or do the city governments out there limit property rights just like they are limited here in the Big City?

Corporate Taxes
It occurred to me that we might abolish the corporate tax, and if we abolish all corporate welfare and all corporate lobbying, we might actually come out MONEY AHEAD. In short, the pay out so exceeds the shriveling corporate contribution that we LOSE money on the exchange.

Taxes
Yes, Mr. Krasnov. And neither do business owners abandon the collection of debts. But they dont write it down because USUALLY thats a matter of common sense. By the way, do you know you can CHANGE those government laws. You MERELY have to get consensus with other citizens. Good luck.
