As I recall, in the last city election, snow removal and the subsequent
towing of cars from city streets, was a major issue. The Mayor and current
City Council promised to rectify this problem. Now, can anyone, including
Dan Niziolek, the author of this brilliantly stupid idea, explain to us how
this will help clean our streets of snow faster and more cleanly with fewer
car being towed?

If the city stops plowing alleys, which we pay for with our monthly water
and sewer bills (which keep going up all the time), residents who normally
park their calls in their garages will have one of two choices; park on the
street and contirbute to the 'snow emergency shuffle' or forget using their
cars until the snow goes away or gets packed down by our neighbors SUVs or
pick-ups that can muscle their way through the snow. Also, will someone
give me the name and number of the guy who will clean my alley for $10 - $20
per year? He is going to be one busy puppy if this stupid idea goes
through.

I heard Niziolek state in a council meeting that garages contribute to crime
in our city by getting themselves broken into and providing cover for
criminals to do their dirty deads. I also got the impression that he either
doesn't have a garage or doesn't need one, so perhaps this is a good idea to
him only because it doesn't affect him. Hopefully, there are enough garage
owners and alley users in his ward to impress upon him that this idea will
come back to haunt him in the next election.

If this somehow does become city policy, then this will be one of the few
times that living on the northside will be an advantage; we can just drive
our cars down to the impound lot and park them, thus saving the tow charges.
