Greeting's List! I have been out of the loop for a while, taking care of my father who is ill. Most recently having to place him in a nursing home for his saftey. All was good until, the nursing home became wimps, and could not tell this man, he would be living off of 72.00 a month. Goodness, they take a the one thing a person has left. That's a differant story.
NAACP:
The Local NAACP consistently aligns itself with political parties and politicians who work against the best interests of the black community. In Minneapolis, the NAACP is just as a personal piggy bank to some, and to others a misuse of power. Meeting's being held behind closed doors, who and what are they hiding? The constant in-house bickering, and bantering. Why aren't they helping those of us who still struggle? Those of of who are still being beating by the police. What of those of us that being strategically placed in concentration housing units, (you know the ones, high crime areas, homelessness, gangs.) Why isn't the topic, how can we uplift and support our own. They don't help those who are in need the most, the disadvantaged.
Finally, As a 39 year-old black woman, mother, wife and friend, I too am concern when it comes to protecting our own. It just seems as through intellect's of the black community go astray and moved onto other things like being excepted to hold high status in the community, you know the "prominent ones." What happened to "Real Black Leaders?" Where are they? We need help. Our babies being raised by babies, and those babies, not having any kind of formal teaching, or teaching their babies to "use their money maker" to get candy, and money. What was once considered help and aid, Welfare, is no longer. We are beginning to see many women and their families, being systematically taking off aid and support, without any kind of help at all; and the Black Intellect say's, "that's good!, they need to be self sufficient. What happened to leave no child behind?, what happened to it takes a village? Where's the NAACP???? and other so-called leaders????

Civil Rights came about because the "Real Black Leaders" were not afraid to speak out, they marched, held "successful boycotts" and stood up to those who continued to exclude us from the table, they "DIED" for us. We are here today, because they were yesterday; and we are stuck in today, because we been offered up as payment, for political offices, or other important callings. The so-called-black leaders of today need to realize, the that the power you hold and or the office you hold, was not a gift. Very violent blood spilled from Martin, Medger, Malcom X, was how you got that power, they died for you to have power, and would horrified to see what is being done with that power. (Think about it)
If the black leaders of today can not come together and agree to disagree, and move on, then the future of the black community is destined for continued failures, and black on black crime will continue, teens having babies, will continue as well. It at times seems that we have grown lazy in our struggles, we have accepted the Affirmative Rights, like it was a gift to us. This is no gift, the government needed to reverse their sanctioned racism and segregation, geared at blacks; and in 1896 Supreme Court ruling Plessy vs. United States, gives us evidence of government sanctioned racism. Moreover, we are always newsworthy when CNN, and the rest of the national media is here, however, once the lights are out, 24 hours news stories bumping current news, everyone crawls back to their little caves, laying dormant until the next big story. Who suffers...?(rhetorical). Bottom-line, our votes are being sold to the highest bidder, the controlling politicians. (Example: I remember Hillary Clinton, using our African Proverbs, "It Takes A Village." and got elected and wrote a book with the same title. We started to use the the African Proverb ourselves, then flump! It vanished).
In conclusion, We must "Wake" up! We need to be about our business, or everything struggled for, will have been done in vain. The many lives lost for our rights, freedoms, and liberties, would have been done in vain. We need to be about coming together, supporting one another and uplifting one another even if this means we have to elect new people, who can think for themselves. And not afraid to speak up even it this means losing your conservitive friends. If there is anything in this world that my mother taught me, it was use my own mind, and do the right thing.
