Pauline only does what there is money for Pauline in doing. Pauline used her non-profit "Community Collaborative" to pay herself for the work that Lilligren is recognizing, just like she paid herself to help Basim Sabri destroy CNIA.
It's common knowlege that it's not Pauline writing those Spokesman-Recorder articles. Insiders say it's "The Jills" who are writing the articles that Pauline signs. For Pauline, it all just helps her recruit more funders.
I've lost faith in Robert Lilligren over this and other issues, and I'm glad I'm not in his ward anymore because obviously he only represents what he thinks is good for his career; word is he wants to be mayor. Mayor. Well I guess the current precendent doesn't require much to be mayor.
I don't live in Robert's ward any more. However, I wouldn't look at his record just on this issue. Robert has gone out on the line on the 35W Excess project, and I appreciate that.
What Robert has done by proposing this award is to alienate many of his original and successful campaign committee. Pauline Thomas is a polarizing figure in Central. And it's not just "racist" whites who have difficulties with her. She is not well liked by groups like Heritage Homeowners - which is mostly African American homeowners in Central.
I've also heard the speculation that the "two Jills" - lawyers who work on police brutality cases in Minneapolis - ghost wrote Ms Thomas's articles in the Spokesman. I haven't heard proof of that. I do know that when Thomas was secretary of CNIA, she did not take notes, rather the meetings were videotaped.
If this ghost writing is true, it's not the first time - I doubt many of the opeds from Senators or Representatives that appear in the Star Tribune are actually written by the politician in question. They often are written by staff.
Is Robert Lilligren Running for Mayor
I've asked Robert directly whether he was planning to run for mayor - and he says that others have asked him that question.
Peter McLaughlin seems to be running for mayor - whether he has announced or not. He was about the only straight politician who showed up for Scott Dibble's fundraiser for Al Oertwig last September.
Personally, I hope Lisa McDonald runs again - and learns from her previous campaign. I can't imagine her reversing herself on the Stadium the way RT Rybak did as soon as he got elected. Lisa frequently tells a story about how Peter McLaughlin told her to keep her opinions to herself when she criticized the flyover ramp portion of the 35W Excess Project.
