Don't forget that Minneapolis also has the Minneapolis Park Police, and their
numbers are not included in the count because they are a separate police
department. They are Minneapolis Police, but they don't report to the Minneapolis
Chief because they are Park Board police. But they do respond to some city
calls (wasn't a Park squad involved in the Alfred Flowers incident)?
And wasn't there some deal with the Mpls Schools to have Park Police act as
school liaison officers?
Doesn't all this, somehow, up the numbers?
I know the Mayor would like to merge the two departments which would save
money and increase street patrol numbers. (you can ask me offline about my
opinions about that).
