Seems like this is a better thing for the Catholic Church in Minneapolis to be doing rather than doing health education about AIDS - since the Church has been criticised by the World Health Organization for spreading bad information about condoms - that is, since they have holes in them, the AIDS virus gets through the holes.
WM: Of course the Catholic church is no prize when it comes to AIDS, nor should it surprise us overmuch that it would be. The church also spreads misinformation about the what the Bible says and is hypocritical about issues involving sexuality of every sort. All the Christian churches have their little and giant hypocrisies to overcome, as do the mosques, the temples, the ashrams, the synagogues, the whatever.
That the church has finally taken on the issue of racism in Minnesota among MN Catholics is a jump forward.. It does not excuse them from working on their other "issues," but it is to be applauded. If there truly are 800,000 practicing Catholics in MN (a figure I read somewhere but have never attempted to verify) and there are some 5 million people in MN, that's a considerable dent in our collective stupidity.
Undoing racism classes, if they talk about how specific issues are connected to racism, help people work through their own selves to help themselves change their own behavior. Some people actually can take it from there once some of the dots have been connected up for them and they learn how to connect the dots on their own hook.
