Sorry, I think that black is the absence of color. So the question "isn't white a color, too?" at the outset appears closer to the truth than not. However, I don't see much correlation between the socially defined term 'black' and the science of color. So that would mean the question was accurate, but not when applied to people.
Brazilians reached the same conclusion about the difficult in drawing a single clear line, so they rely on a wide spectrum of tint variations and features to base their prejudices.
