This came from Sabo's office and I was asked to pass it along by Olin Moore

Hello,
Since you are interested in airport noise issues, I wanted to make you aware that the
FAA reauthorization conference agreement (H.R. 2115) passed the House on October 30th.
The conference report has yet to be considered by the Senate.
Congressman Sabo voted against the bill for a number of reasons, not the least of
which was that it retained Section 189, a provision to prohibit the use of Airport
Improvement Program (AIP) funds for Part 150 noise programs beyond 65 DNL.
You may remember that S. 189 was quietly inserted by Republican conferees back in
July. Since then, Congressman Sabo had been working to drop that provision from the
bill before final passage of the legislation.
Unfortunately, House and Senate Republicans did not allow Democrats any opportunity to
strike Section 189, or other objectionable provisions, in the conference report.
Mr. Sabo is disappointed in this outcome, because S. 189 could undermine long-standing
commitments of the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) to address aircraft noise
impacts on communities surrounding Minneapolis/St. Paul International (MSP) airport.
Please be assured that Mr. Sabo remains committed to ensuring that airport noise
issues at MSP are appropriately addressed.
