Tonight you will have the opportunity to actually see what citizen whiners look like and sound like as they assemble at the SMAAC Fall Forum. SMAAC (South Metro Airport Action Council) is the sibling organization to R.O.A.R. and holds a Spring and Fall Forum each year to provide public forums on topics related to noise and other pollution-related issues created by the operations at MSP and the impact these have on the area residents.
Jeff Hamiel, Executive Director of the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) will address the topic "Airport Noise, Then, Now and Then", a review of the history of noise issues at MSP, current activities related to the creation of new noise contour maps and a 'look into the crystal ball' as the new runway comes on line and the airlines recover from 9/11.
The Fall Forum is held at the Windom Community Center, 5821 Wentworth Ave So (just south of 58th Street between Nicollet and Lyndale) starting at 6:30 p.m. and lasting until 9:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served. We will be meeting in the Multi-Purpose room on the lower level of the Park Board portion of the building. We will be distributing complimentary copies of the Fall newsletter which are hot off the presses last Friday.
