I just received a flyer in my neighborhood
paper advertising the Minneapolis public
elementary school in my area. I was shocked
to find that the school is associated with
and has received a grant from an organization
biased to one side of the political spectrum.

I personally do not believe that the schools
should be indoctrinating students in a particular
political perspective (in much the same way that
I don't believe that students should be required
to say the Pledge of Allegiance).

Some of you may be surprised to think of a
Peace Curriculum as political biased, but it
just as biased as promoting American Imperialism.
I don't think that it is reasonable that the only
school where my children are guaranteed enrollment
is one that teaches a political perspective that is
contrary to my own political beliefs. I think
that the public schools should be apolitical as
possible and offer a balanced presentation of
different political perspectives.
