Here is the reason I resort to the issues list to try to get the Mayor's response
about the outrageous treatment of people living in homelessness.
When pursuing another interview with the mayor about the criminalziation of
person's living homeless I went through the channels suggested by Erik.
The Mayor had initially agreed to do a filmed interview,(he e-mailed me)and told me
to call Laura Sether. Ms. Sether told me he was too busy despite my saying I would
rearrange my schedule to accomodate his. Still, she told me he was too busy.
So, then I went to that public meeeting on one of the Weds. Erik mentioned-- I was
told that, for the first time ever, the Mayor would not be there, but Deputy Fey would
be.(I do not think the Mayor was dodging me. I really think it was a kind of fluky
thing. I am well aware I do not have that strong an impact on the Mayor.)
So, I went. Deputy Fey adamently (and politely) said I must have been mistaken
about the Mayor promising an interview.
However, I produced the e-mail from the Mayor where the Mayor agreed to do the
interview and told me to call to get it on his scheduler. So, then Deputy Fey said
there must have been a misunderstanding..that the Mayor must have thought I needed the
interview within a certain time frame. I assured him I had made it clear there was not
a rigid time frame. And, I assured Deputy Fey that I was not going to give up.
So regular channels did not seem to have much impact-- but camping out a day
later overnight at the Government Center somehow convinced somebody in the Mayor's
office that this was not going to go away. Ultimately, the interview was granted.
Now, if the Mayor does not have time to do an interview with me or anybody else. I
would hope he would post to the list. He has done this in the past. I remember his
post about the Loppet.
