The Gods know I am no fan of the Star Tribune. And if a story won't fit in a 20-second format, the local TV stations will trim whatever context it had to make it fit. That said, I have no doubt that if Rochelle Olson or any electronic broadcaster found a verifiable, reportable story of corruption, they would jump on it with both feet, and it would receive large and prominent play. The problem comes when they do report stories of odious behavior--and the stories are mostly ignored. Those of us here on this list are news junkies, but most of the public would rather hear the inspiring story of the girl's basketball player who recovered from double amputation to lead her team to the title. --M.
