If we are going to go here then all officers should be asked their opinions of what is important in the selection of the new chief,etc. Currently, I believe their voice is gathered by and large through the federation and the federation leadership represents their opinion to the mayor. Not sure what communications have taken place there but can imagine it's been quite lengthy. If these and other officers have dissenting opinions from that of the federation, then they should find whatever way necessary to have their voices heard. I think there is also a black police officers federation or at least there used to be.
