Being infected with the Minnesota Nice virus a bit myself...I am pondering
what to do at my outdoor forum at the Kaplan's on New Years Eve.
Here is my dilemma: I can stand outside the Kaplan's gated community and
(perhaps) get a camera shot of the Mayor whizzing by.
Or, I can walk up to the Kaplan's, knock on their door and ask to speak to
the Mayor.
Now this raises all sorts of questions: Is it against the law to knock on
the Kaplan's door but OK for everybody else in the world to knock on my door?
Is the sidewalk leading to my house private property? If so, plenty of
people walk on it without my permission and they do not get arrested.
Would a polite request to speak to the Mayor be seen as impolite, or
simply a citizen exercising the right to try to access her Mayor.
As this is a political event, not just a social gathering of friends, do I
have the right to practice my politics and seek out the Mayor?
I ponder these questions.... and will report back after the party.
         Kind of cold out there!
