I hope that the more progressive park board commissioners -- the friendly
four as I think of them fondly--- keep on posting to this forum.
Bob Fine, etc are probalby counting on having to weather a bit of a storm
and then assume people will move on.
I second and third this.
Like many other folks that at least read this list I do not act so resonantly as some of the more involved members. I would like to convey how much I appreciate this focused information. Plus, this is just great dirt! Who could imagine this level of intrigue?
More seriously, I tend to agree with the Parks Dept. being an individual feifdom. Our parks are the jewels that make our waters sparkle. Our parks necklace our city and our river with greens and children and birds and festivals. Our parks are the adornment that lifts this cold midwestern city to illusions of grandness. Everyone uses the parks for something.
They're an assumed quality. Along with the milling business the parks were what made this city what it is. They're sacrosanct in my opinion and should be outside the reach of political graspers.
We've given the park board large feifdom- like power for a reason: Preserve,Protect and Improve!
