Though Jason Stone has a pertinent point about hiring a new Park Board
Superintendent the board is not and should not be let off the hook for
hiring Mr. Gurban in the first place. This is a man who for the last ten
years has been working as a paper pusher ( and with the pull tab issue
not a very good one). He hasn't been involved directly in managing a
park system since his tenure in Apple Valley. Why does this make him
qualified to run one of the premier park systems in the nation? I guess
that the Park Board much like the current legislature, where education is
involved, feel that slipping down the excellence lists is no big deal.
