Hmmmmmmm
Maybe we could use these ideas to eliminate the freeways through our fine city.
Just think if 94 and 35W didn't make it so easy to drive thru town.
Busses and trains would make much more sense then.
Maybe some of the suburbanites would actually consider living within say 10 miles of
their employer rather than 40 or 50 in some cases.
don't anyone get riled up by my words, I do not really advocate for getting rid of
freeways.

Some interesting excerpts from 'The Minneapolis Plan', adopted in 1998

<snip>

'-Minneapolis will restore and maintain the traditional street grid.'

'-Minneapolis will encourage visitors, workers and residents of mixed use
areas to travel by means other than the automobile.'

'-Minneapolis will utilize master planning and regulatory techniques for
areas of 100,000 square feet, or 15 acres or greater, so that resultant
development or redevelopment is efficient, functional and attractive,
incorporating high levels of amenities and meeting public objectives for
protection and preservation of the natural environment.'
