I'd love a Q& A time at the Park Board, we'd get the press there for sure but NOTHING would get accomplished. The commissioners with e-mail are quick to respond and even Commissioner Dziedzic will pick up the phone and call back if you contact him so contact and Q&A away.
As to the Padelford fiasco and that's what it is, there was paperwork about the RFP and the other bidders and what they have to offer and what they can do. If I was more technologically advanced I'd get it online as it must be public as they were handing them out at the door. Needless to say, Padelford was the best deal and now they are in St. Paul for the Grand Excursion event of 2004. I think the MPRB is going to have to do some groveling. As to the RFP itself the timing may have been bad but it was the thing to do. The MPRB is feeling the LGA pain and are trying to come up with money to keep the ship afloat and not cut services. The enterprise division headed up by Assistant Superintendent Siggelkow is doing it's best at the behest of the Commissioners. However, if they keep it up they are going to end up high on the State Auditors list of "too many city enterprises that should be privatized", which will mean selling them off to private entities at pennies on the dollar. This would be subsidising private businesses with public dollars at its worst. You may be able to get a copy from Assistant Superintendent Siggelkow or the Board, just go to Minneapolisparks.org and contact them. Liz Wielinski Columbia Park REMINDERS: 1.
