Since vacancy rates in apartment buildings continue to soar, why is the
homeless population also increasing?
Combining the recent US census with the most recently released vacancy rate
and we find there are 17,770 empty rental apartments in Hennepin and Ramsey
Counties right now (1).

(1) US census: 206,448 homes in Ramsey. 468,824 homes in Hennepin.
Rental units is 34.6% of housing which is 233,816 rental units
Vacancy rate at 7.6%.
