Our former church, St. Williams in Fridley is participating in the Families moving Forward program. They do have people staying in the church with the volunteers helping out. They even went a step further and donated a swath of land on which to provide transitional housing to help people to go from homelessness to renting back in the mainstream communities. The project would have screened the families and helped those who were truly willing to do what it takes to get back on their feet and provide the services and oversight to see that they stuck to it. However this project can not get past the Fridley City Council (NIMBY). The location would have been one block east of University AV NE just north of 61st AV NE, on the bus line and close to all the schools and the parks.
